On demand of the book lovers and enthusiastic students from the less privileged strata of society, DBM decided to set up a library for an adopted school in Mankhurd. To implement this project, we immediately contacted our friends and well-wishers to assist us by donating books and spreading the message. Many DBM associates responded immediately. Amongst the earliest to respond were our greatest supporters – Dakhsa Varma & Ekta Shah. We would like like to express our heartfelt gratitude for their gesture. Sarika Sethi is another big supporter of DBM and a group of spirited and selfless ladies from ‘Ripples of Happiness’ pitched in too.
But we are also greatly humbled by the extraordinary work done by a Class 4 girl Jayshree from Oberoi International School, Goregaon, Mumbai. She motivated her friends in her class to bring books from home for economically challenged students. Soon they collected 430 books for the children of our slum school. DBM had shared this message about the library project to her mother Bhavani Krishna Kumar who is volunteering with us and is herself a great supporter of DBM. She, in turn, mentioned DBM’s initiative to her daughter and explained as to how the slum kids do not get books to read. Jayshree took over and even surprised her mother by her active canvassing in her class. God bless these kids.
