NV MEMORIAL LECTURE AWARDS
Shri Narayan Varma was one of Mumbai’s most distinguished Chartered Accountants and a highly respected member of several social and professional organisations. Known for his warmth, dynamism and absolute integrity, he inspired countless individuals with his belief that every person can and must contribute to the greater good. Through his visionary ideas and his commitment to public service, he became a guiding force for many impactful social initiatives.
Although he contributed to many institutions, his association with the following three organisations was especially significant:
A past President of BCAS, Shri Narayan Varma served the organisation in various capacities throughout his life. His leadership, professional excellence and wisdom continue to influence generations of Chartered Accountants.
PCGT, founded by Shri B. G. Deshmukh, Shri Julio Ribeiro and Dr. R. K. Anand, works towards strengthening transparency and ethical governance. As a dynamic trustee, Narayanbhai played a vital role in expanding PCGT’s initiatives and nurturing its mission to promote integrity in public life.
Associated with DBM since its inception, Narayanbhai served as a mentor and guiding light during its formative years and later as the Mumbai Vice-President. His vision and encouragement helped shape its early direction and community impact.
In honour of his extraordinary contributions and enduring values, the three organisations jointly instituted the Narayan Varma Memorial Award (NV Memorial Award) in 2016.
The award celebrates the values and spirit that defined Shri Narayan Varma’s contribution to society.
